Academic Organizations
California Junior Scholarship Federation
California Junior Scholarship Federation, (CJSF) is a state-wide organization of over 600 chapters. The purpose is to foster high standards of scholarship and citizenship on the part of California’s Middle School students.
Las Colinas 7th and 8th grade students apply for membership in CJSF each quarter. Membership is based on grades earned in the students four core classes (Math, English, History, and Science) during the previous quarter. A grade of D or F earned in any subject (including P.E. and/or Elective) automatically debars a student from membership. Students must attend a meeting each quarter and reapply every quarter to be an active member. Students must also perform community service hours each quarter.
Students who are members of CJSF for seven of the eight quarters in 7th and 8th grades earn Honors status. This entitles a student to preferential seating at the Promotion Ceremony in June, receipt of the official Honor Membership pin, and a CJSF certificate.
