Dear PVSD and Las Colinas Middle School Community,

I am privileged to have the opportunity to serve as your new school principal at Las Colinas Middle School and to be a part of the Pleasant Valley School District. The PVSD team has been so kind and welcoming, and I am looking forward to learning more about the school and community.

I first fell in love with teaching when I studied abroad in Thailand my
sophomore year of college. There I was placed at an elementary school
to teach English and immediately knew that this was my calling. After returning from Thailand, I quickly declared my major and moved forward with passion to become a great educator. Since that experience I have obtained my bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies and my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from California Lutheran University. I pursued getting multiple credentials and currently hold a general science credential, multiple subject credential, and an administrative credential.

I am bringing 14 years of middle school experience to Las Colinas and the PVSD community. I started my career as a 7th grade science teacher in Oak Park Unified School District at Medea Creek Middle school and stayed in that role for 11 years. At Medea I was a co-founder of OPUSD’s Inquiry Institute. The purpose of this program was to create inquiry-based lessons that inspired students to become critical and innovative thinkers. This model combined the inquiry process and GATE strategies for building dynamic lessons that teach to diverse groups of students and create an environment that celebrates all students’ gifts and talents.

Currently I am finishing up my 3rd year as an assistant principal at Valley View Middle School in the Simi Valley Unified School District. I have enjoyed my leadership experience and have found great purpose in guiding staff and students. This role provided me with the experience to work with staff on building a working Professional Learning Community (PLC) and running the day-today workings of a large middle school campus. The most rewarding part of my job is working closely with students and families and creating a positive learning environment where all students feel safe and welcome. You will often see me out on campus, visiting classrooms, and playing some frisbee or basketball at lunch with students.

As your new principal, I am committed to fostering a culture of inquiry, innovation, and inclusivity. Together, we will uphold the values of our school and work tirelessly to provide a safe and nurturing environment where every student can thrive.

I look forward to meeting each of you, collaborating with our dedicated staff, and partnering with families to ensure the success of every student.
